From launch to informed decisions.
Each step builds on the last.
01
Work out what you can spend to acquire a sale
Before launching a campaign, calculate net revenue per order. Then subtract product costs, shipping, fees and estimated returns. The remaining margin sets an upper limit on acquisition costs.
Action → Set a target cost per acquisition (CPA) below that limit, leaving room for fixed costs and your desired profit.
02
Optimize for the right conversion
For website purchases, choose the Sales objective and the purchase event. For business inquiries, choose Leads, then track lead quality and the sales those leads generate.
Action → Check your Pixel events and, if used, your Conversions API events, including deduplication. Respect consent choices and protect personal data.
03
Test a few clearly different creative ideas
Try three angles, for example: a product demonstration, a benefit explained and an objection answered. Each ad should lead to a clear, mobile-friendly page that matches its message.
Action → Set a test budget you can afford. For a more controlled comparison, use an A/B test: standard delivery does not necessarily split spend equally.
04
Look at sales before choosing a winner
Compare CPA, confirmed purchases and margin after advertising costs. Allow for conversion delays and reconcile Meta reporting with actual orders: attribution can differ.
Action → Avoid drawing conclusions from one sale or a handful of clicks. If costs consistently exceed your target, review the creative, offer or landing page before investing more.
05
Increase spend with a clear review point
When repeated observations show a CPA that fits your margins, increase the budget in measured steps. Higher spend can change delivery and performance.
Action → After each change, check CPA, margins and conversion quality. Slow down or return to the previous budget if campaign economics deteriorate.
How much margin is available before ad spend?
A simplified example to understand the margin available per order.
Available margin before ad spend
Illustrative example. Use the same tax basis for both amounts. This limit excludes fixed costs and your desired profit, so your target CPA should be lower. A CPA below this limit does not, on its own, prove overall profitability.
Your next step
Start with the economics of your offer.
Calculate your margins, check your tracking and launch a limited test. The goal: learn what converts at a cost your business can support. Results vary with the offer, market, creative and purchase journey.
Present realistic, verifiable benefits. Use only authentic testimonials, without implying that any particular result is guaranteed. Avoid promises of quick earnings, artificial urgency and language that assumes knowledge of a viewer’s financial circumstances or other personal attributes.
